This extensive double CD set collects 48 early-1970s Bob Marley and the Wailers tracks, recorded around 1971-72 by the legendary Jamaican producer Lee Perry. Perry made a huge difference to the band`s sound, replacing the polite ska rhythms of the `60s with upfront rhythm guitar and bass and Carlton Barrett`s exemplary one-drop reggae drumming, and bringing Marley`s increasingly confident vocals to the fore. The difference is notable, particularly on "Duppy Conqueror," later rerecorded for 1973`s BURNIN`, and "Lively Up Yourself," later redone for 1975`s NATTY DREAD.
